Library - Slime Time

It's Sime Time at the Chesterfield Public Library!

Saturday, November 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Mix and measure, pour and explore, and experiment with different materials to make super simple basic slime.  

Fluff and glitter to make shimmer slime, or create your own kind.

Families, kids, parents, and friends are all welcome.  This activity is fun for everyone!

Rag Shag Parade and Haunted Games

The Recreation Commission is hosting Chesterfield's Spooky Town Bash on Sunday, October 27th.  The evening will start with a Rag Shag Parade that will depart the Town Offices at 5:00 and march to the old Town Hall.  The Town Hall is where the Carn-EVIL will be held from 5:30 - 7:30 with a haunted midway of ghoulish games. 

Cultural Council Seeking Proposals

Public Hearing Notice - CDBG

The Chesterfield Select Board will hold a Public Hearing regarding the Mass. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) FY18 Program implementation, a budget revision and possible program amendment.  The hearing will take place on September 30, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. in the Select Board meeting room in the Town Office Building, 422 Main Road. The building is accessible to persons with disabilities.  Any persons needing special accommodations should contact HCDC (296-4536, ext. 115) at least one week prior to the meeting.  All persons or organizations wishing to be heard will be afforded the opportunity.

Public comment is invited on: 


  • Review of the implementation of activities funded under Chesterfield’s FY18 CDBG Program for the communities of Chesterfield, Cummington, Goshen, Peru, Plainfield, and Worthington: Housing Rehabilitation (HR), the Health Outreach Program for Elders run by the HCHC, Hilltown Food Pantry run by the Northampton Survival Center; Childcare Subsidy Program, and the Hilltown Elder Network program.
  • A budget revision is being requested to transfer unspent Planning funds to HR. 
  • A program amendment is being requested to potentially change the HR target area

The general public and representatives of participating towns and organizations with ideas or comments regarding these items should attend to present their views. Special Town Meeting September 10, 2019

There will be a Special Town Meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Center.  The warrant is attached below.

There will be an Informational Meeting immediately following the adjournment of the Special Town Meeting.  This has been scheduled to discuss the results of the Request for Proposals (RFP) to purchase the house, barn, and 2 acres of land at 6 North Road.  This will allow voters to weigh in on whether the Town should keep or sell this portion of property.
