Town Clerk

The Town Clerk is an excellent source of information about Town Government.  He or she records the votes of Town Meetings, coordinates the activities of many Town officers, and has official responsibility for certifying the actions of the Select Board and other officials.

The Town Clerk is responsible for maintaining official Town records and keeping the vital statistics of the Town updated.  He or she also submits reports to government agencies as required by law; collects fees; and issues permits, certificates, and licenses for such things as marriage, birth, hunting and fishing, and dogs.

The Clerk is an election official and works closely with the Board of Registrars in registering voters and compiling the annual street list of Town residents.  He or she also issues and receives nomination papers for elective Town office.

Legally, the Town Clerk must be notified at least 48 hours in advance to post all meetings scheduled by Town boards and committees.

The Town Clerk's office is open Monday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:00 - 11:30 AM.
