All COA programs and activities have been cancelled or postponed, including the ongoing classes and exercise programs.

We have a core of volunteers who are offering help to people who cannot or should not leave their homes.  This is particularly true for those who are already struggling with auto-immune or respiratory disorders or other chronic illnesses that have left them compromised.  The volunteers can help with delivery of food and other needed supplies.  The Chesterfield General Store is open and we are staying in close touch with the owner, Greg Monette.  He currently has a “take out” service and is hoping to offer full meals for pick up.  The best way to view what is available is to follow Chesterfield General Store & Café on Facebook.  The COA has volunteers who have volunteered to help.

Highland Valley Elder Services will continue to deliver meals to homes, but congregate dining on site has been cancelled.  Some people are accustomed to going to the meal site in Williamsburg and you pick up frozen meals at that location.  If you are 60 years old or over and want to pick up a frozen meal, you need to call 24 hours in advance so staff at HVES has time to prepare deliveries.  If anyone has questions they should call HVES at (413) 586-2000.  Their website is www.highlandvalley.org.  The State has set up a COVID-19 Hotline.  Phone 211 or website https://mass211.org.

 

The purpose of the Council on Aging is to identify the needs of seniors age 60 and over in the community and to develop and carry out programs and services to meet those needs. 

The Chesterfield Community Center/Grange Building is available for rentals by community members. The cost is $200 for up to 6 hours use.
