The Committee believes, as stated in the past, that the Town of Chesterfield would be best served by continuing to allocate an annual amount of funds for capital purchases. We continue to believe that planning and funding capital projects is important in order to protect the taxpayers’ investment in the Town. Some communities delete capital items from their budgets, only to be faced with insurmountable capital needs later on. Chesterfield has a solid financial base. We believe it to be prudent and in the best long term interests of the Town to build upon this strong foundation. The Town of Chesterfield should continue to invest annually in capital projects in order to provide the necessary municipal services to its residents in an effective, efficient and fiscally responsible manner.
